Joseph is a decorated Air Force veteran who served his country with distinction. He was in South American working in the food services industry and receiving medical care.
Joseph’s family became concerned when they lost contact with him in November 2024. For several months, the family was unable get in contact with Joseph or find out anything about where he might be. It was not until the start of February 2025 that the State Department reached out to the family with the news that Joseph was wrongfully detained in Venezuela. Joseph’s unjust detention fits a pattern of behavior, where Venezuela has been wrongfully detaining foreigners to use for political leverage. The U.S. government must act with urgency to bring Joseph, and the others wrongfully held in Venezuela, home.
