WASHINGTON – The James W. Foley Legacy Foundation welcomes the news that U.S. Navy veteran Taylor Dudley has been released from unjust detention in Russia and is returning to the United States. “Taylor’s release was the product of careful, coordinated diplomacy and negotiations,” said Foundation Founder and President Diane Foley. “We sincerely appreciate the intense efforts by the Richardson Center, the U.S State Department, and many others who worked to bring Taylor home safely.” Ms. Foley added, “The Foley Foundation urges the Biden administration to keep relentlessly pressing for the swift release of Paul Whelan from Russia, where he has been unjustly held since December 28, 2018. Our hearts are with Paul, the Whelan family, and the families of all who are still being unjustly detained or held hostage overseas.”
