The James W. Foley Legacy Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of Governor Bill Richardson.
“Governor Richardson was a true hero for Americans held hostage and detained abroad,” said Foundation Founder and President Diane Foley. “The Governor was a man of moral courage, extraordinary commitment, and compassion.
His legacy will live on in the many Americans who he helped bring safely home from captivity, and in the generation of ‘fringe diplomats’ who he mentored in this vital work.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Barbara Richardson, his family, Mickey Bergman, all his colleagues at the Richardson Center, and the over 80 families whom he supported while their loved ones were being held captive overseas.”
