The renowned Irish-American writer Colum McCann returns to the Meeting with another deeply human story of suffering and dignity. With him is Diane Foley, an American mother whose son, freelance journalist James Wright Foley, was barbarically killed by ISIS on August 19, eleven years ago, after 24 months of captivity. Together with journalist Alessandro Banfi, they will recount the journey of a woman who chose to meet and speak with her son’s killer. McCann wrote a book, American Mother, which is the diary of this difficult journey through immense suffering and forgiveness.
