Paul N. Whelan is an American businessman who was visiting Moscow, Russia, as a tourist when he was was arrested by the FSB on December 28, 2018. He has been wrongfully detained ever since on false charges of espionage.
Release
On August 1, 2024, Whelan was released as part of a prisoner exchange.
