Day of Action for Xiyue Wang's Liberty
February 20th, 2019 - Princeton University
Xiyue Wang is a Princeton Ph.D. student in history. He has been unjustly imprisoned by Iran for more than 900 days on false charges of espionage. Xiyue is an American, a scholar, a husband and father, not a spy. His imprisonment is enormous violation of academic freedom and human rights.
We will host a Call-A-Thon and a Rally on Wednesday Feb. 20 to raise awareness to the plight of Xiyue and call for his immediate release.
• Call-A-Thon: contacting political representatives by phone and mail—from 10 am to 5 pm in the Campus Club Library. Food and coffee will be provided, as will postcards, stamps, and other necessary supplies.
• Rally: directly afterwards at 5pm in the Chancellor Green Rotunda, where we will hear speeches and observe a moment of silence. We invited Sarah Jane Leslie (Dean of Princeton Graduate School), Keith Wailoo (Chair of Princeton History Department), Liz Lempert (Princeton Mayor), Xiyue’s friends and colleagues, and political representatives to come to speak.
Please come to show your support for a member of our community who needs our help! Please share this message amongst friends and contacts and encourage them to come as well.
